Before you give
Can I cancel a monthly gift?+
Any time, and without a conversation about it. One email to us is enough, or use the link on your Stripe receipt. We would rather you gave for six honest months than felt trapped for twelve.
Is my card safe?+
Your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers. Stripe handles payments for millions of businesses and is PCI Service Provider Level 1 certified — the strictest tier there is. We only ever see the amount, your name, and your email address.
Will I get a tax receipt?+
Not at the moment, and we would rather tell you that up front than after you have given. Our charitable registration is not yet confirmed, so we cannot issue official donation receipts and your gift is not eligible for a charitable tax credit. Stripe will email you a payment receipt as proof of payment. If a tax receipt is the reason you were about to give, please wait until we can honestly offer one.
Can I choose what my money funds?+
Yes. Pick a programme in the form and your gift is tracked to it. If you leave it as ‘wherever it’s needed most’, we direct it to whichever programme is furthest from its funding that month — which is usually the least photogenic one.
Why is my donation shown in my own currency?+
Because being asked for an unfamiliar currency is a good reason to abandon a donation. We detect your country and show a local amount. You can change the currency yourself with the selector at the top of the form.
What if I donated by mistake, or the wrong amount?+
Email us and we will refund it, in full, no questions asked. We would rather return money than keep a gift someone did not mean to make. See our donation and refund policy for the detail.
Do you take other payment methods?+
Stripe Checkout offers card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link automatically, depending on your device. For bank transfers, donor-advised funds, gifts of securities, or a gift in a will, email us and a person will reply.
Will you sell my details or keep emailing me?+
No, and no. We never sell, rent, or share donor data with anyone. If we contact you it is to tell you what your money did, and every email we send unsubscribes in one click.
